Question 1

How does the 8 Ranks persona coaching work?

Accepted Answer

You pick one of six original grandmaster-style coach personas, each with its own philosophy, opening repertoire and teaching voice. The coach explains every move you play, reacts to brilliancies and blunders, draws candidate arrows, and sends mistakes to your spaced-repetition Blunder Vault.

Question 2

Is 8 Ranks free to use for tactical and endgame training?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Daily tactics, the Tactical Pattern Forge, the Opening Lab, endgame drills, computer sparring and game review are all free to use, with no payment required. An optional free account syncs your progress across devices.

Question 3

How is 8 Ranks different from standard chess puzzle trainers?

Accepted Answer

Standard puzzle trainers only check whether your move is right. 8 Ranks teaches why: every tactic, opening line and endgame comes with a step-by-step explanation, a 64-square rank-by-rank curriculum, XP and a skill radar, plus persona coaches you can spar against and a free game review for your Chess.com and Lichess games.
